Votewiser for Libraries and Educators
Updated August 29, 2026
Votewiser is a free, nonpartisan reference that puts every U.S. senator, representative and 2026 congressional candidate on one page. This page is for librarians, teachers and researchers who want to link or cite it in a research guide, syllabus or resource list.
What is on a page
- Every sitting member (example): office contact information, official and campaign social-media accounts, committee assignments, sponsored legislation, press releases, latest news, YouTube, and a district map.
- Every 2026 congressional candidate (example state): party, photo, campaign website and socials, and primary results as they are decided — winners and those advancing to the November 3 general election are marked.
- State pages (example): the full delegation with district maps and every district's 2026 field.
- ZIP-code lookup on the home page: type a ZIP to reach the district page with its representative, both senators and the 2026 candidates. ZIPs that span districts get a chooser.
There are no accounts, no advertising and no paywall. Pages are static and fast, and a mobile version is served automatically at votewiser.com/m.
Where the data comes from
Member records and legislation come from the Library of Congress's congress.gov API. Candidate rosters come from state election authorities and official candidate filings; results are entered from state and county canvasses. Press releases are pulled from each member's official House or Senate site. District boundaries for the ten states that redrew their maps for 2026 are rendered from each state's enacted-plan GIS data. Campaigns may send corrections, which we apply on identical terms for every candidate.
Member data refreshes with the congressional roster; candidate pages are updated as filings, withdrawals and primary results occur; news and press releases update nightly. We list every candidate on identical terms and endorse no one.

Good links for a guide
- Find your district by ZIP: votewiser.com
- A state's delegation and districts:
votewiser.com/state/{ST}, e.g. Texas - A state's 2026 candidates:
votewiser.com/2026/{ST}, e.g. Texas - Members by party: House Democrats, House Republicans
URLs are stable: a member's page keeps its address for the length of their service and afterwards, and candidate pages remain online after the election as a public record of the race.
