Proud to lead the Ukraine Support Act with @RepGregoryMeeks and @RepStenyHoyer. The Discharge petition on this legislation now has 218 signatures, and we have now forced a vote on the House floor to support Ukraine. This bipartisan legislation sends a strong message to Russia and President Trump, that the House supports Ukraine. Now we must go pass this bill on the floor.
In 2019, Congress officially recognized the Aremenian genocide and today we remember the 1.5 million men, women, and children killed 111 years ago. All elected officials and world leaders must recognize this history to ensure it can never happen again.
I congratulate Hungarians on a resounding election result, both a demonstration of their decades-long commitment to democracy & a clear rejection of Orban's pro-Russian leadership. I look forward to working w/ @magyarpeterMP's new government & I congratulate him on his victory.
The President’s statements about Iran are horrible, destabilizing, destructive, and clearly demonstrate that he is not only unqualified but also unfit for office. Threatening to destroy an entire civilization is obviously a war crime, and it should be condemned by all Americans, including my Republican colleagues in Congress. But that’s not enough - the power enshrined in Congress by our Constitution is not the power to issue statements on social media, our power is to legislate and act as a check on the executive branch. We should be in Washington right now, and the only person stopping us from ending this extended recess and holding Donald Trump accountable is Speaker Mike Johnson. The Speaker must reconvene Congress so we can hold hearings and cast votes to reign in this out of control President and his actions, his words, and his illegal war of choice.
I'm disturbed to hear audio of Viktor Orban and his cronies like @FM_Szijjarto taking orders from the Kremlin. Russia is not our friend and a NATO country taking action on behalf of the Kremlin should raise serious alarms about where the Orban government's loyalties lie.
Today, I voted w/ Dems in @HouseForeign to subpoena @SecRubio, Steve Witkoff, & Jared Kushner to testify on Iran & Ukraine. Republicans voted no. House R's must demand transparency, accountability, & public testimony from this administration. The American people deserve it.
On Belarus Freedom Day, we #StandWithBelarus and the 850+ political prisoners who remain unjustly behind bars. Belarusians will continue to fight for their democratic future and the United States and the free world will continue to support them - today and everyday.
Disturbed, horrified, & unsurprised with this administration's continued, cruel attacks on science and global health. This is yet another example of the Trump administration playing politics with the health and well being of those who need help. It must stop. https://t.co/UbT5OoCaWX
A pleasure to see Taoiseach @MichealMartinTD on St. Patrick's Day to reaffirm the US-Ireland relationship. The stories of Ireland and America are so often interlinked, and today is a reminder that we will always celebrate our enduring and long-lasting friendship. https://t.co/EmmjtURvPF
Refusing to support a lasting peace or condemn Russian aggression, on the 4th anniversary of this brutal war, shows the President's cards. If he was serious about peace, he would up the pressure on Putin to bring him to the table. Instead, he appeases the dictator. Shameful.
