The wall outside my office in Washington, D.C., has a picture of every law enforcement officer who has lost their life in the line of duty since I came to Congress in 2021. Sadly, I'm quickly running out of wall space. Make sure to tell a law enforcement officer how much you appreciate what they do to keep you safe. They don't hear “thank you” enough.
I’ve had the honor of serving in law enforcement for nearly 30 years and carrying on a family tradition. I began my career in the state of Wisconsin and moved to Texas, where I served in Fort Bend County, and was elected to two terms as Constable for Fort Bend County Precinct 4 and later served two terms as Sheriff. To everyone in law enforcement, thank you for your service. The sacrifices you make to serve your communities do not go unnoticed.
I was honored to have four Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputies join me for a press conference with @RepLisaMcClain and some of my @HouseGOP colleagues who've worn the badge. To our men and women in blue—thank you for your selfless service. May God bless you and your families. https://t.co/DWWFev73ER
Today, I want to recognize my twin brother, Trever. Trever’s dedication to our country and our community here in Fort Bend County is unmatched. He served over 30 years in the U.S. Army and then brought the same commitment to law enforcement, ultimately becoming elected as the Constable for Fort Bend County Precinct 4. Thank you, Trever, for your bravery and leadership, and for always putting public service before yourself.
Ask yourself this: Why did 173 House Democrats just vote AGAINST a resolution that expresses support for our nation’s law enforcement officers during National Police Week? Shameful.
I want to express my gratitude to our law enforcement officers who risk their lives to protect our communities. Every day, we should thank our local, state, and federal officers for their hard work and dedication to public service. Read my latest op-ed in the @DC_Reporter: https://t.co/7qYRNtEbsI
Today, I want to recognize my nephew, Taylor, and say thank you for keeping up the great Nehls legacy! He is currently serving as the Criminal Investigations Lieutenant at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department. I also want to recognize Tek, Taylor’s past partner, who served 5 years alongside him. K9 officers are members of the law enforcement family. They put their lives on the line every day alongside their handlers to keep our communities safe. Thank you, Taylor, for your service!
🚨BREAKING: The House just passed my bill, the Save Our Shrimpers Act. For far too long, American taxpayer dollars have subsidized foreign shrimp farms and operations while our own shrimpers are struggling to stay afloat. My bill puts an end to this nonsense and puts America’s shrimpers first. The Senate must take up and pass my legislation immediately!
For decades, U.S. tax dollars have effectively helped finance foreign shrimp operations to the demise of our nation’s shrimpers. It’s unacceptable. The Save Our Shrimpers Act stands up for American jobs, seafood producers, and coastal communities that depend on the shrimping industry to survive. I urge the House to pass my legislation and stand with American shrimpers.
Congress must act to protect homeownership for the next generation of Americans. We need to pass the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and get it to President Trump’s desk as soon as possible. Let’s get it done.
