It was a pleasure meeting with Canadian member of Parliament @bobzimmermp, co-chair of the Parliamentarian Outdoor Caucus. This caucus is the sister organization to the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, where I’m proud to serve as Vice Chair. https://t.co/lH1ZG6wYn9
Congratulations to my dear friend and lifelong New Orleanian, @WendellPierce, on achieving his annual “trifecta” goal of acting in a television show, a film, and a stage play all in the same year. He’s completing that incredible accomplishment by taking on the role of Othello. Wendell continues to be a true inspiration and a shining example of the extraordinary talent that comes out of #LA02. Louisiana couldn’t be more proud.
The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy – and I will fight against its weakening. I will continue advocating for fairness, equity, and representation that truly reflect the voices of our community. I held my first in a series of town halls focused on voting rights and redistricting – stay tuned for more dates.
Happy 100th birthday to Mrs. Mable Harris Thomas! Mrs. Thomas is a lifelong Louisianian who has given so much to our communities, including fighting for fair wages and equity in our public school systems. Mable also worked for 31 years with @assumptionk12 and @JPschools. She is loved by her family, her church, her sisters in @dstinc1913, and our entire community. We are better because of her. Happy Birthday!
While Senator Price’s SB 407 failed in committee last night, it is my sincere hope that its core principles can still be incorporated through amendments to SB 121, which did pass. As this process moves forward, I will continue advocating for fairness, equity, and representation that truly reflects the demographics and voices of our great state. https://t.co/VxOLNCDQDZ
This #PoliceWeek, I want to thank the officers in #LA02 who protect our community with compassion. I’m committed to helping keep our neighborhoods safe, which is why I proudly introduced the Next Gen 9-1-1 Act to modernize our nation’s emergency communications systems. https://t.co/hVrKExIcjA
With new work reporting requirements set to begin in 2027, too many eligible Americans risk losing their Medicaid coverage because of unnecessary red tape. States like Louisiana are already working hard to help families stay covered, which is why I’m proud to introduce the Medicaid Outreach and Assistance for Communities Act of 2026 with @RepMcClellan. This bill gives states the resources they need to continue and expand that work so no one falls through the cracks. No one should lose their health care because of paperwork or bureaucracy.
I’m proud to announce the finalists of this year’s Congressional Art Competition and celebrate the incredible talent of young artists across #LA02! Thank you to @flyneworleans for helping recognize these outstanding students and their creativity. This year’s winning artwork will be displayed in the United States Capitol, and for the first time ever, all finalists’ works will also be displayed in Concourse A at MSY. Congratulations to our winner, “Afro-futuristic Hairstyle” by Lauryn Landers from @NOCCA. Lauryn drew inspiration from her own hairstyles to create a powerful exploration of identity, culture, and self-expression. Congratulations again to all of this year’s finalists!
