The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst. Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers. General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis. Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. Keep your word, Mr. Secretary: choose meritocracy over your mediocre yes-men. https://t.co/adZY30rCZq
Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. We remember their courage, their dedication, and the families who carry their legacy forward. https://t.co/9AUindpbcT
The Clarity Act passed by the Senate Banking Committee is a strong bipartisan compromise to provide the regulatory certainty needed to advance financial innovation. I was proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for the past few months, and more work remains in the weeks ahead to make this legislation even better. Let’s get it done.
I'm happy to share that @fema is awarding more than $38 million in reimbursements to North Carolina. This will help Western North Carolina continue its recovery efforts following Helene. Thanks to President Trump and @SecMullinDHS, this is another positive step for our state.
For too long, @US_FDA has ignored statutory deadlines and court orders to review new product applications, instead allowing illicit vapes to flood our shelves from overseas. This new enforcement guidance is a welcome step in the right direction toward building a regulated and transparent market, based on scientific and risk-based review. I look forward to working with Acting Commissioner @FDA_KyleD on this important issue.
During National Police Week, we recognize the brave police officers across North Carolina who answer the call to serve each day. Their dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to public safety deserve our gratitude. I am proud to #BacktheBlue and will continue to support our nation’s law enforcement.
Happy Mother’s Day! Today, I am especially grateful for the love and support of my mom, Margie, my wife, Susan, and my daughter, Lindsay. I am truly blessed to have them in my life. https://t.co/uw2lLVdxuH
Grateful to our British allies for their support in maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Our shared commitment to a free and open world remains a vital cornerstone of our global security architecture.
It was always a pleasure working with Mayor Vi Lyles during her service to Charlotte. Wishing her the very best in her next chapter.
It’s #NationalSmallBusinessWeek! This week is a great opportunity to #ShopSmall and support the small businesses driving job growth and employing nearly half of America’s workforce. If you’re thinking about starting a small business, @SBAgov has resources to help you take the first steps. Learn more at: https://t.co/SjPA4DBenD
