Access to information and digital connectivity shouldn’t depend on your zip code, your income, or whether a community has been overlooked for years. In today’s economy, internet access is tied to education, healthcare, jobs, small business growth, and civic participation. On World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, we recognize that closing the digital divide is about more than technology. It’s about opportunity. Every Nevada family deserves access to the tools and connectivity needed to fully participate in the modern economy. #NV04
High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of heart disease and stroke, but too many families are being priced out of the health care they need. On World Hypertension Day, we’re reminded that preventive care, affordable prescriptions, and access to quality health care save lives. The facts are the facts: healthier communities start with accessible care.
The 10-year Treasury yield just hit its highest level since last summer, and while that may sound like Wall Street news, families here in Nevada feel the impact fast. Higher Treasury yields can mean higher mortgage rates, more expensive car loans, and increased borrowing costs across the economy. At the time when inflation, energy prices, and housing costs are already squeezing working families, rising interest rates only add more pressure. The facts are the facts. People need relief, not more economic uncertainty. #NV04 https://t.co/bR1pJCovZg
They know the Black vote is powerful. That’s why they keep trying to silence it. But we’re organizing, mobilizing, and fighting back. Today, I’m in Montgomery, Alabama, where history reminds us the march for voting rights is far from over. Join us live as we discuss what’s at stake, what these attacks on voting rights mean for our communities, and how we move forward together. The fight continues. Tune in. https://t.co/9MaYFzGiG9 #NationalVotingRightsDay
Today is National Waiters Day. Nevada’s hospitality workers keep our restaurants, casinos, and tourism economy running every single day. They deserve respect, fair wages, and policies that actually protect tipped workers. That’s why I introduced the TIP Improvement Act to strengthen protections for tipped employees, modernize outdated policies, and make sure workers can keep more of what they earn. In a tourism-driven state like Nevada, supporting service workers means supporting our economy.
History has shown us that progress is never permanent unless people are willing to fight to protect it. Every generation has been called to defend the right to vote, and this generation is no different. Today I'm joining leaders and communities from across the country for the National Day of Action for Voting Rights to continue that work. When people organize, mobilize, and stand together, change follows.
Nevada families are already paying more at the grocery store, and now global conflict and rising energy costs are making things even worse. Grocery prices rose 2.9% in April, the highest increase in nearly two years, as fuel costs, supply chain pressure, and rising transportation costs continue driving prices higher. The facts are the facts. When gas prices go up, the cost of almost everything goes up with it. Families shouldn’t have to choose between filling up the tank and filling up the fridge. We need policies focused on lowering costs and protecting working people from carrying the burden for economic instability. #NV04 https://t.co/NSXAA9UUeg
Armed Forces Day isn't just a date on the calendar. It's a chance to recognize the real people serving in every branch, in every corner of the world, and the families holding things together back home. Today we say thank you, and we mean it. #NV04
On National Endangered Species Day, we’re reminded that protecting our environment means protecting the future for the next generation. Nevada’s public lands, wildlife, and natural resources are part of what makes our state unique. We all have a role to play in preserving them for years to come.
