There is no better new home for the F-35A than McEntire Joint National Guard Base. The capabilities of the 169th Fighter Wing are proven and second to none. As a member of the South Carolina Air National Guard, I will never stop fighting for our state’s readiness capabilities. Our nation’s defense must continue to improve, and I am proud to lead the letter ensuring South Carolina leads the way.

With over thirty years experience serving as a healthcare provider, I know how difficult it can be for some women to find quality care at an affordable price that is close to home. Recently, I had the privilege of sharing my perspective on the challenges surrounding healthcare, particularly in rural areas, with the Institute for Women’s Health.

On this day in 2023, Israel lost more than 1,200 innocent lives, while more than 250 people, including 12 Americans, were kidnapped and taken hostage, at the hands of Hamas, an Iranian backed terrorist organization. May we never forget those who were brutally murdered, sexually assaulted, tortured, and taken hostage. I remain grateful to President Trump and all those who worked to secure the release of the hostages. God’s covenant with Israel is everlasting and I pray that her people come to know a peaceful future where bloodshed and violence are no longer commonplace.

Hurricane Helene brought historic flooding to the Third District, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage, taking more than 40 lives, and altering our communities forever. I am honored to be recognized by American Flood Coalition as a “Federal Champion” for helping our communities better prepare for and respond to tragedies like this. The support between neighbors and the resilience of our communities made me prouder than ever to be a South Carolinian. Should disaster strike again, I will be there to do my part and stand with all of you.

The YMCA is a fixture in communities across our nation, and here in the Third District, our local YMCA leaders help to strengthen our children's mental and physical health and provide quality facilities for members in our community to participate in recreation. I had a great meeting with Anderson YMCA CEO Kevin Osbourne to discuss the YMCA’s role in our community, the support it may need, and the development of our youth.

America’s manufacturing is booming. Because of President Trump and House Republicans’ pro-growth, pro manufacturing policies, places like the Third District are seeing more jobs and more productivity. We are bringing back American manufacturing jobs and making the things our country needs most right here at home.

I take great pride in wearing the uniform of the Air National Guard. Legislating and advocating for our servicemembers will always be at the forefront of my work in Congress. I sat down with the Acting Director of the Air National Guard, Major General Efferson, and the Deputy Director of the Air National Guard, Major General Terrell. We discussed a wide range of topics, including fighter recapitalization, the deployment of F-35As to South Carolina, servicemember quality of life, and much more. As one of just three serving members of the National Guard in Congress, I recognize this unique role and the opportunity to use my experience to strengthen our armed forces and improve the lives of our servicemembers.
