I recently got to speak with some of the parents, teachers, and students of Onahan Elementary School, a @ChiPubSchools school in my district. Last year, I secured $850,000 in federal funds to build a new artificial turf field for Onahan. This field will replace the current deteriorated asphalt-and-grass area, which has been dangerous to many students. The new field will have rubber running track, a soccer field, a scoreboard, and lighting.
Americans need to know their elected officials are doing what's in the country's best interest, not what's best for their own pocketbooks. I joined 19 of my colleagues on a letter demanding that Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries change the House Rules to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks and betting in prediction markets. We need to end the appearance and reality of insider trading and conflicts of interest inside Congress.
The April BLS report is out, and Trump's policies are making everything more expensive for everyone.
It’s National #Bike to Work Day! Whether it’s out in Chicago or in the halls of Congress, I always enjoy a chance to take my wheels out. I’m going to keep protecting bike lanes and bike infrastructure that keeps our cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians safe🚲 https://t.co/aEJnKGMnqb
I just received a report from the @JECDems showing that American small businesses lost 4.5 times MORE jobs in 2025 than they did during the pandemic—all because of Trump's tariffs. We need this tariff chaos to end so our economy can start to recover.

Residents of the South Shore apartment building that CBP ransacked this fall just submitted a federal tort claim, pressing the federal government for financial compensation. That night, CBP officials broke down doors, zip-tied kids and their parents, and illegally held residents in unmarked vans for hours. I support them in their case and hope they receive justice soon. We must hold ICE & CBP accountable to ensure this never happens again. https://t.co/DQF7f5Zveb
I want to take a moment to honor NBA player Jason Collins, who passed away earlier this week from cancer. He was the first out gay player not only in the entire NBA, but in any of the 4 major sports leagues. I had the honor of meeting Jason at a Chicago House benefit many years ago. Before that I got to watch him play for the Minnesota Timberwolves against our @chicagobulls. He was always a kind soul and trailblazer. May he rest in peace.

Flooding wreaks havoc on our communities. In Chicagoland, these floods impose a massive financial burden on homeowners—even just a few inches of water can be dangerous. I'm proud to introduce the Flood Mapping Modernization and Homeowner Empowerment Pilot Program Act with @SenatorDurbin and @SenDuckworth to help urban communities better prepare for floods. https://t.co/hsMDn1yVf2
