As the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, I want to highlight some of the dangerous individuals captured by the Department of Homeland Security. It is my goal to keep you updated on the great work our men and women in law enforcement are doing to keep our communities safe.
I am honored to have had Taylor Brown and Anne Barret Roberson as interns in my D.C. office this spring. Taylor is from Orange County, California, and graduated with her BA from Boston University, majoring in international relations and economics. After leaving our office, Taylor will continue her time in D.C. working with the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives. Anne Barret is from Jackson, Mississippi, and graduated with her BA from Baylor University, majoring in history with minors in Spanish and international studies. Anne Barrett plans to further her education this fall by attend law school in either Texas or Mississippi. Both of these young ladies were incredible assets to our office and we look forward to seeing what God has in store for them as they start a new chapter in life.
Jimmie Nichols on my staff attended the ribbon cutting for Aqua Pulse in Rankin County. I am thankful for the hard work that our small business owners put in each day to serve the communities across our district. https://t.co/IJaiVfateb
Charlie Ballou enjoyed visiting with Dr. Cedric Gathings, who is the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students for Meridian Community College. Thank you, Dr. Gathings and your dedicated staff, for educating and preparing the future leaders of business and industry in our state.
Fun Fact Friday: As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence, I want to highlight some of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. John Penn was born in Virginia in 1741. After the death of his father, John Penn moved his family to North Carolina. Upon arriving in the colony, John established himself as a local leader for the cause of American independence. He served in the Continental Congress for six years and helped to establish the North Carolina Constitution. John signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of the Confederation. After his death, the U.S. Navy named an attack transport ship after Penn. The U.S.S. John Penn saw action in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters in WWII.
Nick Hall on my staff was home from D.C. and had the chance to visit the Beat 3 Coffee Club that meets regularly at the Madison Primos. I appreciate Jim Walker and this group of politicos for always allowing my staff and me to join them and updating us on the latest developments across the metro area.
I am proud to represent Lauderdale County and East Mississippi, which will soon be home to a state-of-the-art data center. Compass Datacenters is investing $10 billion in Meridian, creating jobs and growing the digital infrastructure. Thank you to Compass Datacenters CEO Chris Crosby for stopping by my office in D.C. this week to discuss this important economic development project.
I am honored to be joined by Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) and Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) who led H.Res.1252 to honor and memorialize fallen law enforcement officers. The resolution, passed during National Police Week, recognizes the 363 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2025, as well as those whose stories were previously lost. H.Res. 1252 passed the United States House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support.
My staff had the opportunity to visit with Mike Lowery while he was in D.C. Mike is the manager of the Walmart in Columbia, MS. I’m grateful for the impact Mike and his team members have on their community. https://t.co/1RNw6YjFsP
