The President’s abuse of power and weaponization of federal law enforcement against Representative Omar is disgusting and diminishes protections for all. This pre-dawn raid, so close to the election, is a political attack that I condemn in the strongest possible terms.

Indigenous communities have been stewards of Oregon’s lands and waters since time immemorial. Honoring that legacy means confronting the harms of settler colonialism and centering their insights as we build our future. Every Oregonian deserves a more just and equitable place to call home. Our community is full of young people dedicated to making our country a better place. It was an honor to meet and swear in the Confluence Environmental Center’s newest cohort of AmeriCorps members. I am proud to stand with them and thank them for their dedication to service and our community.

It’s been three years since Hamas brutally murdered over 1200 people and took 250 hostage, in Israel.    This inexcusable loss continues to weigh heavily on our community. As does the ongoing genocide in Gaza. One does not and cannot excuse the other.   We must condemn violence, and we must do so in all of its forms. All of us need to stand together in opposition to hate and violence across the globe.
