Within days of the Supreme Court’s decision in Callais gutting the Voting Rights Act, Republican-controlled states across the South are quickly moving to dismantle majority-Black congressional districts. Their goal is clear: dilute the voices of Black voters and weaken their representation in government for partisan gain. We’ve seen where this road leads before. It is an unacceptable step backward that echoes the darkest chapters of Jim Crow and the long fight for civil rights. This fight will take all of us. We won’t go back.
Chelmsford firefighter Nick Spinale has stepped up for our community and trained firefighters across Massachusetts. He deserves to recover with the support he's owed. I'm grateful to @MassGovernor for acting to fix this and wish Nick a speedy recovery. https://t.co/iQgXlXV6nX
Mifepristone was safe when the FDA first approved it over two decades ago, and it has been safe and effective for the millions of women who have used it since. Allowing continued access to this medication is the right decision. End of story.
I've been sounding the alarm about the threats of frontier AI. This week, I joined a bipartisan group of 34 House members demanding the White House confront the cybersecurity threat posed by advanced AI models before our adversaries use them against us. https://t.co/SOOICjcUSS
Now that Congress is back in DC, Jen Kiggans should take the opportunity to apologize in person to @RepJeffries for agreeing with this racist comment from the radio host she agreed to join yesterday.
Families are struggling to pay for groceries and gas because of Donald Trump's war in Iran. Meanwhile, he keeps talking up his ballroom, which he's trying to secure $1 BILLION in taxpayer funding to build. It's a disgrace. https://t.co/U4iVeUV2vY
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I grew up in Lowell with three sisters, raised by a mom who worked hard every single day to give us a great life. She didn't talk about it much – she just did it. That kind of quiet, unrelenting effort shaped me and how I approach my work. Now I get to watch that same spirit show up in my two daughters, and there's nothing I'm more proud of. Wishing a happy Mother's Day to every mom out there!
On Thursday, I visited Pyramid Healthcare's Boston Metro Detox & Residential Treatment Center in Concord, one of the only facilities in Massachusetts offering this level of addiction treatment to patients, including for some of the most vulnerable in our communities. At a moment when federal cuts are threatening programs exactly like this one, the work they're doing here matters more than ever.
I had a great conversation in Methuen this week about how federal investments I secured are being put to use to make life better for families in the Arlington neighborhood. Grateful to M.A.N., Inc. and our city and state partners for their work to improve our community! https://t.co/8ULn566oy4
The hantavirus outbreak making headlines right now is a sobering reminder: infectious threats don't wait for Congress to get its act together. Our core pandemic preparedness law has been expired since 2023. The authorities and programs that govern our public health response predate COVID-19. We have been running on extensions and stopgaps while the threat landscape keeps moving, and our communities are increasingly at risk because of it. As co-founder of the Congressional Pandemic Preparedness Caucus and the lead Democrat on reauthorizing the Protecting Americans from All-Hazards Preparedness Act, I know how important it is to build a durable, bipartisan preparedness infrastructure so it doesn’t erode in the future. Every outbreak we respond to without fully authorized, fully funded preparedness systems is a test we're taking without studying. Americans deserve better than that. https://t.co/63HC714Ki7
