The bipartisan Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2027 passed the House this week with my support. This legislation makes a strong commitment to our nation’s Veterans. It provides $469.5 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, an increase of $4 billion above the FY26 enacted level, improving timely care and ensuring Veterans receive the benefits they have earned without delay. It also includes $54.6 billion for the Toxic Exposures Fund to continue delivering care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances during their service. This bill reflects my commitment to strengthening the VA, improving accountability, and always putting Veterans first!
At today's Law Enforcement Memorial Breakfast, we solemnly honored the life and service of Officer Andy Lahera of the Citrus County Sheriff's Office who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. His name was formally added to the national memorial this week, ensuring that his courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. I was proud to stand in solidarity with the Lahera family, @sheriffcitrus David Vincent, fellow law enforcement officers, and community members as we paid tribute to this local hero. In a moment filled with reflection and gratitude, we were reminded of the profound cost of public service and the enduring legacy left by those who give their lives to protect others. #PoliceWeek #NeverForgotten
I’m fighting to ensure Sporadic Inclusion Body Myositis (sIBM) is recognized by the VA as a presumptive service-connected condition. Like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), sIBM is a progressive and incurable neuromuscular disease that leaves many veterans facing devastating physical decline with no cure or effective treatment. Yet unlike veterans diagnosed with ALS, those suffering from sIBM are still forced to navigate a lengthy and burdensome claims process to prove their illness is connected to their military service. Growing evidence points to environmental exposures during military service as a possible link to both ALS and sIBM. Veterans battling this terrible disease should not have to wait years for recognition, support, and the benefits they have earned. https://t.co/6sfi0Jru36
It was truly humbling to honor District 12’s 2026 First Responders of the Year, each selected by their respective agencies for their outstanding service and dedication. These heroes go above and beyond every day - often in the face of danger - to protect our communities and keep families safe. Their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment are an inspiration to us all, and we are deeply grateful for the vital role they play in serving our community.
My annual Nurses Roundtable was both informative and impactful, bringing together dedicated nurses from a wide range of care settings to share their frontline perspectives. Their insights shed light on the challenges facing the profession - from workforce shortages to patient care demands - and offered thoughtful, solutions-oriented ideas on how Congress can better support those who serve on the front lines of healthcare every day. #NurseAppreciationWeek
It was an honor to attend the @pace_pasco breakfast and witness firsthand the powerful impact this organization is making in our community. The inspirational stories shared by these young women were a testament to resilience, determination, and the life-changing support Pace provides. Their journeys are not only uplifting, but a reminder of what is possible when we invest in mentorship, education, and opportunity for the next generation.

I’m working to advance commonsense legislation that empowers parents with stronger tools and greater transparency to help keep their children safe online. As concerns continue to grow nationwide, families are calling on Congress to act - and we must answer that call by holding Big Tech accountable and prioritizing the well-being of our kids in the digital age. https://t.co/apGmjQvTmN
National Police Week serves as a powerful reminder that our law enforcement officers are the thin blue line standing between order and chaos. Every day, these brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our communities, uphold the rule of law, and keep our families safe. That’s why I have consistently voted to ensure law enforcement has the tools, resources, and support they need to combat crime, secure our streets, and protect the American people. I look forward to welcoming our outstanding local law enforcement officers to Washington this week as we honor their sacrifice, service, and unwavering dedication to our communities. I will always stand proudly with those who wear the badge and will never stop backing the blue. #NationalPoliceWeek
Yesterday we celebrated moms. Today, we stand up for them. America’s maternal mortality rate has more than doubled since the 1980s - and now ranks among the highest in the developed world. Even more heartbreaking, 90% of these deaths are preventable. Too many mothers still lack the care and support they need before, during, and after pregnancy. By bringing together leaders across government, business, health care, entertainment, and the faith community in a bipartisan effort, we can scale proven solutions and cut maternal mortality in half over the next five years. One important step forward is the new resource hub launched by @HHSGov and @WhiteHouse to connect moms and families with critical support services: https://t.co/QE5rpNKYqm #HealthyMomsHealthyBabiesAmerica
