As the son of a World War II veteran and a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, I have a deep admiration and appreciation for the men and woman serving our nation in uniform. This Armed Forces Day, and every day, my thoughts are with them as they sacrifice so much to keep us safe and secure.
From fuel to fertilizer, nearly everything is more expensive for Michigan farmers this planting season. The American people don't want to pay more for a war that we still don’t fully know why we are in. https://t.co/JW45gBYWpZ
I’m proud to cosponsor a bipartisan resolution in the Senate commemorating National Police Week. This resolution recognizes the work our local police do every day for Michigan communities. It also honors fallen police officers, including Officer Kelvin Patrick of the Detroit Police Department, who last year succumbed to injuries that he sustained in the line of duty. Every day, I am grateful for all the local law enforcement officers in Michigan that keep us safe.
Go Pistons! Let’s get the W on our home court!
As President Trump meets with President Xi this week, it’s essential that he stands up for Michigan consumers, manufacturers, and workers. China is dead set on taking over the global automotive industry by flooding the market with artificially cheap cars, strangling our supply chains, and establishing manufacturing footprints across the globe, which poses a serious threat both to our national and economic security. President Trump cannot cave to President Xi on protections that ensure American manufacturers have a level playing field and safeguard our national security and Americans’ personal data. Anything less would be a betrayal of Michigan’s automotive sector and the robust manufacturing supply chain that lifts up our entire economy. This is a critical moment. The President needs to fight for our interests, not sell us out to our adversaries and undercut Americans’ ability to compete.
I’m incredibly proud of the work my friend Candice Miller and I did to support the future of Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Our shared commitment to northern border security helped pave the way for the Northern Border Mission Center, which will be a critical asset to Michigan’s defense footprint.
Michiganders are paying the price of Trump’s war with Iran every time they fill up their tank. https://t.co/HO4nPOrKAx
My mother was someone I could always turn to. She was someone who never quit, whether it was surviving Nazi-occupied France or organizing her workplace for fair wages and benefits. Her lessons about hard work and standing up for what's right will always stick with me. Happy Mother’s Day to my beloved wife Colleen and all the amazing moms for everything they do!
I was proud to help secure $15 million in funding for the Port of Monroe. This investment will help the Port make necessary dock upgrades to improve operations and support key Michigan supply chains. https://t.co/LccQyh5XTJ
Great to see this for Hockeytown USA! Can’t wait to cheer them on!
