Today, my district office received a suspicious package similar to those sent to other congressional offices across the country. Our office was evacuated, and I’m grateful that my staff is safe. I want to thank the Prince William County Police and Fire Departments, as well as federal law enforcement, for their swift response and professionalism. Political violence and intimidation have no place in our democracy. Those responsible must be held accountable.
On Tuesday, I joined About Women OB/GYN for a meaningful conversation about the challenges facing our health care system and the future of women’s health in our community. Every woman deserves access to quality, affordable care at every stage of life. Thank you to the About Women OB/GYN team for the important work you do and for taking the time to share your perspectives!
Cases of mail theft and check fraud are growing, putting families, businesses, and communities at risk. I’m leading legislation to strengthen the U.S. Postal Service OIG’s ability to investigate postal employee misconduct, mail theft, and check fraud. This bill will ensure federal investigators have the personnel, training, and resources they need to do their jobs and help protect the integrity of our mail system. https://t.co/3lExsVlEHp
I'm glad President Trump ultimately reversed course on plans to live-stream Nidal Hasan's execution, but we should never have reached this point in the first place. Turning an execution into a televised spectacle is un-American. Our justice system must uphold the rule of law and the dignity of our institutions. Today, I introduced legislation to ensure no future administration can authorize the live-streaming of executions in the United States.
Trump’s reckless war with Iran has sent gas, diesel, and grocery prices skyrocketing. Now, just weeks before the midterms, he’s turning to Vladimir Putin to bail him out with a diesel deal. This isn’t the first time @POTUS has made a deal with the devil, and it certainly won’t be the last.
Neabsco Community Day was a wonderful celebration of community. It’s always great to spend time with my Prince William County neighbors. Thank you to Supervisor Angry for organizing this event and to all who came out to make it a success! https://t.co/TrEoM16tbU
I’m proud to have earned an A from Defend The Vote Action Fund for my record of fighting corruption, protecting voting rights, and standing up for the voice and vote of Virginians in VA-07. I’m grateful for this recognition and will keep working to ensure our democracy works for everyone.
On Tuesday, I celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Chesapeake Bay and Watershed Report Card and a major milestone: the Bay earned its highest score in 40 years! This progress is a testament to the hard work of the communities, conservationists, and partners dedicated to protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay. We must continue building on this momentum to preserve this vital natural resource for future generations.
Our troops should never be asked to carry out the political will of a president at the expense of our democracy. That’s why I’m backing @RepPatRyanNY’s legislation to prevent the president from weaponizing the military to interfere with our elections. Congress must make clear that Americans’ right to vote must remain free from intimidation, coercion, and military interference.
On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending a service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Culpeper. Thank you to Reverend Dr. Holley and the entire Mt. Olive Baptist Church family for the warm welcome! https://t.co/A8VzfiXhNM
