As a member of @HouseAppropsGOP, I was proud to vote in favor of H.R. 8469 today. This bill fully funds veterans’ healthcare and benefits programs, invests in critical quality-of-life improvements for servicemembers and their families, and continues efforts to advance construction of the new Bakersfield Community Based Outpatient Clinic. As the first FY27 funding package to pass the House, this legislation reflects our commitment to those who serve, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to move the remaining appropriations bills forward. It was great to welcome Central Valley representatives from @Caltrux to Washington to discuss ways to reduce costs and improve affordability for trucking operations. We spoke about ways to address these challenges and celebrated House passage of the Combating Retail Crime Act. I appreciate their insights and will continue to support our Central Valley independent trucking companies.
Yesterday, I met with representatives from @portoflongbeach, which is the second busiest port in the United States and handles over $300 billion in trade each year. They shared their plans to develop the port's first green truck corridor—an initiative that will help accelerate the transition to a cleaner, zero-emission supply chain connecting Long Beach and the Central Valley. I applaud their commitment to advancing more sustainable freight transportation and look forward to continuing our partnership to achieve this important goal.
Online dating has become a common way for people to connect, but unfortunately, it's also a tool for scammers looking to take advantage of people. On Online Romance Day, I'm calling on Congress to advance the Romance Scam Prevention Act. This bipartisan bill is an important step toward reducing romance scams and protecting online dating service users, and I remain committed to getting it over the finish line.
Today, I had a productive conversation with @WesternGrowers at their annual meeting. We spoke about my efforts to support specialty crop producers through my work on @HouseAppropsGOP Subcommittee on Agriculture and the important wins secured in the Farm Bill. As we continue working to get these bills over the finish line and signed into law, I remain committed to continuing to advocate for our growers.
In honor of Police Week, I welcomed deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office to Washington and gave them a tour of the U.S. Capitol. I’ll always support our local law enforcement, and it was great to thank these deputies in person for their service to our communities. https://t.co/lj8E7ZDq9Z
One of the most exciting moments for any expecting family is preparing to welcome a new child, but unexpected expenses can quickly add up and leave new parents facing costs far beyond what they planned. That’s why I’m proud to introduce the bipartisan Supporting Newborn Parents Act of 2026, which would provide up to $2,000 per newborn as an advance payment to help families cover immediate costs. This commonsense bill gives working parents greater financial flexibility and peace of mind so they can focus on growing their family instead of worrying about how to make ends meet. Organized retail crime and cargo theft are hurting small businesses and families across the Central Valley. These are coordinated criminal operations that put public safety at risk, disrupt supply chains, and drive-up costs for consumers. That's why I was honored to help pass the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act this Police Week. The CORCA Act gives law enforcement stronger tools to investigate and dismantle organized theft rings, and I'm especially proud to see language from my Safeguarding our Supply Chains Act included. This bill takes the necessary steps to hold criminals accountable and support our law enforcement officers working every day to keep our communities safe. Read more: https://t.co/JBhc3sbGJs
Wishing a very happy Mother's Day to my incredible wife Terra, my mom, and all the wonderful moms here the Central Valley. Thank you for everything you do! https://t.co/wgZYkiNol4
I'm proud to announce the 2026 Congressional Art Competition People's Choice winner—selected by popular vote—is Elidia by Albert Garcia, a 12th-grade student at Del Oro High School in Bakersfield. The photo portrays Albert’s abuela, Elidia, on a quiet Christmas Eve as she shares a story in the warmth of their home.
