Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining our City of Peoria community to congratulate Police Chief Eric Echevarria on his retirement from the Peoria Police Department. It was a terrific crowd and a wonderful opportunity to thank him for his commitment and dedication to the safety and security of our Peoria community over the last four years. We wish him and his family continued success. As National Police Week ends we pay tribute to Chief Echevarria and all of our men and women who serve in law-enforcement in Peoria and across the 16th Congressional district.
Earlier this week, I joined former State Senator Pat McGuire to visit with members of the Rock Steady Boxing class at K-Fit Minooka and hear firsthand how this program helps individuals manage their Parkinson’s symptoms. I enjoyed the opportunity to listen to their personal stories and discuss legislation like my Boxing Therapy for Parkinson’s Act that supports these programs and continued research. I’m incredibly grateful to Anne and Kenji for leading this class and all their work to physically and mentally support these boxers in their fight against Parkinson’s!
I have faith in President Trump’s ability to advance America’s interests in direct talks with President Xi, but we cannot ignore China’s long history of broken promises and malign actions. The U.S. will continue to stand with Taiwan against the growing aggression from Beijing. https://t.co/EuKUtCJGIM
I was proud to lead the efforts in DC to secure this new funding for the air cargo road project during the FY2026 appropriations process and support the legislation making this possible in February. Thanks to the partnership of local leaders in Bloomington-Normal and the Airport Authority, this investment will enhance safety for passengers and employees at the Central Illinois Regional Airport, while supporting continued economic growth for our region.
Year-round E15 is a win for our farmers, a win for consumers, and a win for our rural economies. I was proud to continue to advocate for this legislation on the House floor today, and I look forward to voting in support to strengthen agriculture and lower prices at the pump. https://t.co/DiwbFh8ozQ
During National Police Week, we recognize the bravery and selfless service of the men and women who wear the badge in #IL16 and across our nation. This week, and every week, we are grateful for their dedication to keeping our families and communities safe. #BackTheBlue https://t.co/PHr7oGdcGI
Planting season is underway across #IL16 and our farmers are hard at work preparing to feed and fuel the nation. Had a great visit with David Isermann, who serves on my Ag Advisory Board, and his son Jim at their farm in Streator! I enjoyed the opportunity to help get some field prep done and talk about the need for the Senate to pass the Farm Bill I was proud to support in the House.
Brightpoint Crisis Nursery is a critical asset for families in central and northern Illinois. I appreciated the opportunity to visit with VP of Early Childhood Services, Mendy Smith, and the team at their Bloomington location to learn more about the remarkable impact they have on our communities and discuss my work on the @WaysandMeansGOP Work & Welfare Committee to support our youth and strengthen families.
Busy day on the road in #IL16 traveling between Grundy, Livingston, McLean, and Peoria counties. Couldn’t pass up a quick pit stop at Wally’s! https://t.co/Glga6aV0DL
Started my week at the Grundy County Economic Development Council’s Annual Legislative Breakfast in Morris alongside State Senator Chris Balkema, State Senator Patrick Joyce, State Senator Sue Rezin, Rep. Jason Bunting, and Rep. Jed Davis. Thankful for the opportunity to join this group to give an update on my work to strengthen Main Streets across #IL16, the provisions I advocated for in the House’s version of the Farm Bill, and the $5 million I secured for the construction of a new interchange at Minooka Road and I-80 in Grundy County.
