Two years ago, Congress almost left the county with a huge intelligence gap for no good reason. Lives would have been lost had we not reauthorozed FISA. The violent cartel leader “El Mencho” would still be alive if we had not reauthorized FISA and passed my provision to target cartel affiliates for collection. Luckily most Republcans have done the research and now support it. All but a few. Somehow many Democrats have unlearned the facts about FISA and are voting against it because orange man bad…or something. Many get the facts completely wrong about FISA. They say they’re “guardians of civil liberty.” They say their position is “common sense,” that “if you want to spy on Americans just get a warrant.” That all sounds good. I would agree with their position *if it were true.* But it’s not true. No one is spying on your inbox without a warrant. You always need a warrant to tap an American phone. You even need a warrant to tap a foreign terrorist’s phone if they are in America. This debate over a warrant is actually about whether we should need a warrant to be able to QUERY the database for American names or places or even just a US phone number. That’s normal law enforcement investigation. Like running a license plate. You stop the FBI from doing that and you stop thwarting terrorist plots on US soil. The Members of Congress who still don’t believe that have been unwilling to learn the facts. I’ve seen it firsthand, Members throwing their hands up and walking out of classified briefings because they didn’t like the facts pushing up against their beliefs. All emotion and no critical thinking. President Trump is showing incredible leadership by pushing for reauthorization this week. American lives depend on this, even if online trolls believe otherwise.
It’s Tax Day and everyone should be thankful that Democrats weren’t in charge. They argued for your taxes to increase. Full stop. There’s no grey area to this. https://t.co/cg4e9cjCQf
Happy Tax Day, California.
Did you guys lose your grammar check staff in the war? https://t.co/OpVtNwDf38
A lot of pearl clutching from the usual suspects online and on the cable news panels about “ending civilization.” Take a breath. Let’s do some critical thinking and pretend like we actually know how President Trump communicates. Should he be taken literally? Like you really believe he’s going to vaporize the Persian population? Really? Have you been paying attention the last 11 years? President Trump speaks in terms of POWER, which is the only language our adversaries understand. Carefully worded diplomatic statements make the UN feel nice and cozy but also don’t get anything done. Pay attention to his actions. And so far the actions have left the Iranian military in shambles, their ballistic mission program nearly gone, and their nuclear program nearly destroyed. The President is rightfully prioritizing the need for overwhelming force in order to open the Straits of Hormuz. That’s it. That’s the action we can expect.
Good Friday is the moment where the story of the world turns—where themes that run from the beginning of Scripture converge in a single event: sacrifice and redemption. What looks like defeat is the fulfillment of prophecy and the beginning of a new covenant. We do not have Easter and resurrection without the cross. Let us reflect on the cross today and the sacrifice made on our behalf. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
These people vote. https://t.co/TkSgdMoNfR
When your ideology has you worrying about hurting a murderer’s feelings instead of stating the facts, it’s time to rethink it.
For all the pearl-clutching from the media and the Democrats trying to poke holes in the notion of “imminent threat” posed by Iran: Let’s have a quick lesson on intelligence analysis, geopolitics, and common sense. THREAD.
Tucker likes to have friendly conversations with bad people. When he realizes that he’s talking to Iranian intelligence officials that we already collect on, he pretends to be a victim of “spying.” He’s an idiot, and he thinks you’re an idiot too. You always need a warrant to “wire tap” any American citizen. Full stop. But if you’re communicating with a criminal and that criminal’s phone is tapped (because a judge authorized it), then your conversation is now part of that investigation. If the police also want to tap *your* phone, they would need a warrant. FISA is no different. Tucker knows all this but his favorite grift is to play the victim. I’m surprised he hasn’t blamed the Jews yet. Give it time.
