“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Proud that the Senate unanimously passed Senator @RonWyden and my resolution designating tomorrow, May 16th, 2026, as National Kids to Parks Day. Time outdoors gives children the chance to be active, curious, and connected to the world around them. This is a great reminder for families to step away from screens, explore our parks and trails, and enjoy the natural beauty we’re fortunate to have in Mississippi and across the country. Yesterday, the Senate unanimously passed Senator Kennedy’s resolution to withhold Members of Congress’ pay during government shutdowns. This is a common-sense measure that should have been done long ago. If Congress fails to do its job, lawmakers shouldn’t get paid. I’m proud to support this effort to bring more accountability to Washington. https://t.co/SbkEN4GWPW
Mass timber lowers costs and cuts build times, and it’s one of the best tools we have to help make housing more affordable. Today, I chaired the Senate THUD subcommittee hearing on HUD’s FY27 budget and asked Secretary Turner to work across agencies to make mass timber a mainstream part of affordable housing production, not just a forest management conversation. Great visit with @DeltaState President Dr. Dan Ennis to discuss DSU’s priorities looking ahead. I especially appreciated hearing updates on the university’s agriculture aviation program and the impact it’s having as a model for ag aviation training and workforce development in Mississippi and across the nation. Always love hearing about the Fighting Okra!
During #NationalPoliceWeek, we honor the brave law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service to others and remember the families and fellow officers who carry their loss each day. As we reflect on their sacrifice – including our three fallen officers from Mississippi – we must continue supporting the men and women who serve and protect our communities. To every officer serving across Mississippi and our nation: thank you for your service. #heroesinblue
Mississippi is making its mark in the fight against cancer. Major congratulations to MSU chemist Dr. Colleen Scott, recipient of the Bayh-Dole Coalition’s 2026 American Innovator Award. Her patented imaging technology helps clinicians see cancer cells with remarkable precision, a discovery that could change outcomes for patients across the country. I was proud to nominate her for this honor, and am even prouder to see her receive it. Dr. Scott is an inspiration to the next generation of Mississippi innovators. https://t.co/hx1empcvyD
Healthy moms, Healthy babies. That’s what we’re fighting for. As Chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, I’m committed to advancing federal policies that protect life and strengthen American families. Pleased @POTUS is acting to advance this effort.
The tornado damage across south Mississippi is devastating. It is a true blessing that despite destruction, no lives were lost. To the families and businesses in storm-damaged counties that face a long road ahead: you have my full commitment. Mississippi is resilient. If you need assistance navigating resources, please call my office for help.
The demand is here. Americans want cotton grown and made in America. My legislation – the Buying American Cotton Act – incentivizes companies to bring their supply chains back home, because we grow the finest cotton in the world, and it should be worn here. We also touched on the Farm Bill 2.0, Farm Safety Net Updates, USMCA, fertilizer prices, USDA reorganization, and more. Be sure to listen to the entire @agripulse interview!
