Proud to welcome Federal Highway Administration Administrator Sean McMaster to Putnam County to highlight progress on the $10 million safety improvement project at Stoneleigh Avenue and Drewville Road near Putnam Hospital. The project includes a new roundabout, improved sightlines, upgraded drainage and other enhancements to improve traffic flow and safety for residents, patients, hospital staff and first responders. I’ve worked with local, state and federal partners to advance this project and secure the federal investment needed to make it happen. I’ll continue fighting for the infrastructure improvements our Hudson Valley communities deserve.
This week, I visited Stepping Stones, the historic home of Bill and Lois Wilson in Katonah. Bill Wilson, co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and Lois Wilson, co-founder of Al-Anon Family Groups, left a lasting legacy of support and recovery for individuals and families affected by alcoholism. Thank you again for the warm welcome and for providing a tour of this historic and significant site.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Donald R. “Cool Breeze” Branson of Stony Point and extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. A proud United States Army veteran and longtime member of Charles R. Lewis VFW Post 8997 in Tomkins Cove, Donald devoted himself to supporting fellow veterans and serving the Stony Point community. From helping lead the town’s Memorial Day parades to his instrumental role in establishing the veterans memorials at Routes 9W and 210, Donald worked to ensure that our nation’s heroes would always be remembered. His presence at community gatherings and veterans ceremonies will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. Rest in peace, Cool Breeze. Thank you for your service and your unwavering commitment to our veterans and community.
Lowering the cost of living means tackling the policies driving it up. From tax cuts and housing legislation to permitting reform, we’re working to make life more affordable for hardworking New Yorkers. https://t.co/kGsx3GSfwT
Grateful that law enforcement, acting on a tip from an individual, stopped a white supremacist’s plot to attack a Hindu temple outside Chicago before anyone was hurt. My colleague Raja Krishnamoorthi and his family were worshipping there that day. Places of worship must be safe for everyone. White supremacy and all forms of extremism have no place in America. https://t.co/7zo8ra2AwG
Heartbroken by the shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon. My prayers are with the families, the entire community, and those stolen from us far too soon.
Today, I welcomed FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster to Putnam County to highlight critical safety improvements coming to the Stoneleigh Avenue and Drewville Road intersection near Putnam Hospital. After years of work, we’re moving this $5 million project toward construction to make our roads safer for patients, families, first responders, and everyone who travels here.
It was great to visit the Italian American Club of Mahopac and present proclamations in recognition of their contributions to our community. Thank you for your continued dedication to preserving Italian American heritage and bringing our community together. https://t.co/AhlBLB6D17
Americans deserve transparency and accountability in our elections. That means having clear rules to prevent candidates from using campaign coordination arrangements to get around finance limits. Right now, coordination between political campaigns and super PACs can allow candidates to circumvent contribution limits and benefit from unlimited spending. The Stop Illegal Super PAC Coordination Act would help close these loopholes, strengthen campaign finance rules, and protect the integrity of our elections.
As the new school year gets underway, it was great to visit with students, teachers, and staff at Hendrick Hudson School in Westchester! Our schools play such an important role in preparing the next generation for success, and I’m grateful to the educators who work hard every day to support our students. Wishing everyone a successful school year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities!
