It was great to sit down with the Cedar Rapids Economic Alliance in DC!    Whether it’s supporting small business, attracting investments, or investing in our workforce, this group is constantly working to bring people and ideas together in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities!    Grateful for our partnership in keeping Iowa the best place to live, work, and raise a family!

I’m excited to share that $38.5 million in funding for the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City was included in the bipartisan MilCon-VA appropriations bill, which just passed the House overwhelmingly. This project provides long-overdue resources to keep the runway operational and support an essential national security mission. I was proud to help advocate for this funding in my role on @HouseAppropsGOP, and appreciated working with @RepFeenstra to get this request included. I’m committed to getting this across the finish line for Iowa. God bless our military!

Loved welcoming the Iowa Firefighters Association to my office in DC!    I’m incredibly thankful for our firefighters who work tirelessly to protect Iowans when disaster strikes. It was great to hear from this group directly about how Congress can support them so they can keep our Iowa communities safer.

Appreciated my visit with members of the Iowa National Guard Officers Association. From recent deployments as part of Operation Inherent Resolve to serving public safety missions across the country, these citizen soldiers risk their lives to serve our country and protect us each day.     We also remember the brave Iowa servicemembers we’ve lost this past year and honor those families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Iowa is proud of all those who wear the uniform, and I’ll always fight for our military heroes.

E15 passed the House! For years, I’ve worked relentlessly — even if that means standing up to my own party — to promote year-round E15 access. Today’s vote is a massive, long-overdue step in the right direction that will provide much-needed certainty for Iowa farmers and biofuels producers. Homegrown biofuels are a critical tool to lower costs for consumers and boost our rural economy, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to get this bill to President Trump’s desk as soon as possible. Our farmers and producers deserve a heck of a lot better than they’ve been getting, and I’ll continue to break the gridlock in Washington to deliver for Iowa agriculture.

This is a challenging time for our ag economy, and we need to use every single tool available to support our farmers and rural communities. It’s time for Congress to step up & provide the certainty they need. It’s time to pass year-round E15.
