On National Farmers Day, I want to recognize the hardworking men and women who feed and fuel the world. I know times are tough for Iowa farmers right now. You're putting in long hours, taking on enormous risk, and doing everything you can to keep your operations going and provide for your families. While we've made progress expanding market access, delivering death tax relief, and advancing year-round E15 through the House, there's much more work to do. I won’t stop fighting for the relief, certainty, and stronger markets you need to succeed.
On Friday, I brought together farmers, doctors, water utility leaders, researchers, government officials, and parents to discuss Iowa’s water quality. Iowa families deserve clean, safe water, and I’ll work with anyone to deliver solutions. We had a productive conversation about reducing nitrates, strengthening farmer-led conservation efforts, and securing additional investments in water infrastructure. There’s more work to do, and I’ll keep bringing people together to deliver real solutions for Iowa families.
It was special to be back in Grinnell & see the progress on the new labor and delivery unit I helped secure funding for that is now serving Iowa moms & babies. I was glad to have @DrOzCMS join us to hear firsthand from providers & staff about the challenges they’re facing and how the rural health transformation fund is helping. These funds also included $1 million to install a brand new MRI machine in Grinnell. Too many rural Iowans still struggle to get the care they need, and I am working on bipartisan solutions to help expand affordable healthcare access for all Iowans.

My team was honored to welcome nearly 70 Iowa veterans to our nation’s capital as part of the Central Iowa Honor Flight! 🇺🇸 A huge thank you to @HyVee for going above & beyond to bring back the first Honor Flight out of Des Moines since 2019, giving these heroes the opportunity to visit the memorials dedicated to their service. Grateful to our amazing @IAGovernor for giving these veterans the warm welcome & recognition they deserve, and to her family included in this honor flight!
Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists carried out the horrific October 7th attack against Israel. I will never forget the gut-wrenching images of families, women, and children brutalized by evil terrorists. I cannot fathom what the hostages endured, the trauma survivors and their families still carry, or the immense grief of those whose loved ones never came home. As antisemitism and threats against Jewish communities persist, we must condemn this hatred wherever it appears and hold those responsible accountable. I stand with Israel and Jewish people around the world.
Too many Iowans still have to travel too far or struggle to get the quality care they need. There’s a lot more work to do — but these federal investments are starting to make a difference by helping recruit providers, bring critical screening technology to underserved communities, & expand access to cancer care. I’m pushing for additional funding to keep that progress going and help more Iowans get quality care close to home. Read more here. ⬇️
Thank you, Governor Reynolds, for today’s proclamation suspending penalties for on-road use of dyed diesel. This is one temporary step to provide relief to our farmers and truckers during an especially busy and challenging season. We need to use every available option to lower fuel costs and make life more affordable for all Iowans.
Enjoyed lunch with the Waterloo Rotary Club today! We had a great conversation about what’s on the minds of Iowans — making life more affordable, supporting our family farms and small businesses, lowering healthcare costs, and ensuring access to affordable childcare for Iowa families. I’ll keep listening to Iowans, telling your stories to get results, & working across the aisle to deliver for Iowa.
Happy National 4-H Week!🍀 More than 28,000 young Iowans are 4-H members, and I’m proud to celebrate our leaders of tomorrow who are pledging their “head, heart, hands, and health” to making their clubs, communities, country, and the world, a better place. https://t.co/wSIu7ONBNT
