This morning, I joined a joint @HouseIntel & @HomelandGOP roundtable discussion on intel sharing between federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement, led by @AustinScottGA08 & @RepPfluger. As the nation prepares to host a series of high-profile, high-stakes events over the coming years, we must ensure all measures are taken to guarantee the highest level of preparedness to ensure the safety and security of all Americans in attendance. During National Police Week, I want to thank the dedicated law enforcement officers serving Arkansas’s First District and their families who bear a great deal of the burden. You protect our families, uphold the rule of law, and keep our communities safe. We owe you a debt of gratitude for your service and sacrifice. Congress must continue to support law enforcement with the tools and backing they need to do their work. God bless our police officers and their families. #NationalPoliceWeek
This week, I held my third roundtable event, this time in Tampa, focused on convening federal, state, and local officials with private-sector partners to discuss a renewed, collective response to counterintelligence threats. This effort is part of @HouseIntel's aggressive work to reform the U.S. counterintelligence apparatus that is failing to take an offensive posture to combat the pervasive threats we face in the homeland today. Florida is home to many leading U.S. industries, including agriculture, aerospace, advanced technology, ports, and more. While this makes Florida a valuable piece of the U.S. economy and national security, it also makes the state a glaring target for adversary intelligence threats, most notably by the CCP.
Under @SpeakerJohnson's steadfast leadership, House Republicans have: ✅Secured the largest tax cuts for Americans in history ✅ Passed significant election security in the SAVE America Act ✅Reauthorized FISA 702 with critical reforms ✅Passed a full Farm Bill for the first time in 8 years All while operating in one of the smallest majorities. Not sure the House is the problem.
🚨The Farm Bill has passed the House🚨 Read my full statement below: https://t.co/84sRLtlmb2 https://t.co/4bRLoGcx3d
Dropped off a celebratory hot rotisserie chicken to my co-lead @repkmr ! Proud to have 384 Representatives vote to pass my amendment. Now on to the Senate and on to President Trump's desk! https://t.co/hF5EbdXNiK
The importance of the FISA 702 authority to U.S. national security cannot be overstated. While no one in Washington can get 100% of what they want all the time, this bill makes measurable reforms to strengthen oversight and accountability, while maintaining the criticality of this national security tool. Many of us understand the significant advantage 702 provides to U.S. national security and the fervent need to protect Americans’ privacy and civil liberties. We should not sacrifice one for the other, and this legislation, passed by the House, strikes that balance. I urge our colleagues in the Senate to take up the House-passed bill immediately and send it to President Trump’s desk for signing.
I’m excited to see @U_S_Steel's $1.9 billion investment in a new Direct Reduced Iron facility at Big River Steel Works in Osceola! This builds on the massive Big River expansion and creates an end-to-end American supply chain: iron ore shipped from Minnesota turned into steel made in Arkansas. Hundreds of jobs and a boost for Northeast Arkansas. We are very fortunate to have U.S. Steel as a trusted partner in our community. #AmericanSteel
Last night, I testified before the @RulesReps on my commonsense amendment to the Farm Bill to allow SNAP participants to purchase a rotisserie chicken with their benefits. Hot rotisserie chicken is healthy, widely available in popular grocery stores, and aligned with the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
I have been closely watching the events unfold from tonight’s White House Correspondents Dinner. I am praying for the U.S. Secret Service agent who was injured and greatly appreciate his and law enforcement’s quick response. This must end. Neither political party should tolerate political violence of any kind.
