Week 4 of 10 on Appropriations — done. As the only Northeast Republican on the committee, I just helped pass the Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Bill and ALL 5 of my CJS Community Project Funding requests were included. That's $18.2M advanced for Suffolk: new police vehicles across 11 local departments, SCPD technology, Sheriff investigative tools, and a quantum-protected cybersecurity network for Long Island's power grid at Stony Brook. Next stops: the House Floor, then the Senate, then the President’s desk. Let’s get it done! 💪
For most of the last 50 years, New York Democrats wouldn’t have blinked at 3.6% raises for LIRR unions. But under Kathy Hochul, taxpayers are expected to absorb $5 billion for migrant services and $4 billion to bail out Mamdani while the state plays hardball with a blue-collar union — leaving 250,000 Long Island commuters stranded in the process. NY Democrats’ shift in priorities are an affront to the rule of law, hard work and is the reason so many people are leaving NY.
It's National Police Week. As the proud son and grandson of Cops, I understand the sacrifice that comes with wearing the uniform — the long hours, the missed family moments, the weight of the responsibility. To every Officer on Long Island and across America: thank you for your service. This week and every week. We see you. We support you. And we will always have your back.
This Military Appreciation Month, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women in uniform who stand watch over our nation. Having worn the uniform myself, I know the weight of that service. Generations of American warriors, past and present, gave their tomorrows so we could have ours. To every service member standing the watch, and to every Veteran and Gold Star family who carried the burden before them: thank you.
Albany’s left-wing sanctuary package ties the hands of Law Enforcement, shields criminal illegal aliens from accountability, and makes our neighborhoods less safe. https://t.co/JFFOzlSoYg
D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood? What about Long Island statehood? Albany has driven one of the largest outmigrations in New York history, and Long Island should lead the way out. We are done funding upstate failures. We are done absorbing unfunded mandates. We are done bearing sanctuary policies that endanger our neighborhoods. Long Island has the population, the economy, and the will to govern itself.
Big bipartisan win for our Veterans. The @ProblemSolversCaucus and @4CountryCaucus have both endorsed my PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program Act — a bill that takes a proven program and expands it nationwide, connecting Veterans with other Veterans. As a Navy Veteran and the brother of a Marine Sniper, I know how powerful that connection is. No Veteran should fight the battle at home alone.
Catholic Veterans can pick from nearly 100 VA headstone emblems. But not a Crucifix. Well, not yet. This week, the House will vote on the MilCon-VA Bill with my friend Rep. Riley Moore's amendment requiring the VA to approve the crucifix within 90 days. It already passed our Appropriations Committee 58 to 0 – every Republican and Democrat. Catholic Veterans defended everyone's religious freedom. They deserve theirs.
Congratulations to the United States Naval Academy Class of 2029 on completing the Herndon Climb and officially becoming plebes no more! My Class of 2000 classmates and I made the climb back in 1997, scaling the 21-foot grease-and-lard-covered obelisk in 2 hours, 55 minutes, and 17 seconds. Now a new generation steps forward. Years of service, leadership, teamwork, discipline, and sacrifice await the Class of 2029 — and I have no doubt they are ready for the challenge. Fair winds, keep charging forward, and as always: Don’t Give Up the Ship!
Like so many Long Islanders, I grew up with John Sterling's voice calling Yankees games. He was truly a one-of-a-kind whose style could never be replicated. Thoughts and prayers with his family, friends, and loved ones. https://t.co/2PCQbTUvnG
